This is an extra large Talavera mug measuring approximately 5 1/2 " tall with a 3 1/2" mouth. The handle is also very large to give even the largest of hands and easy grip. With the handle, the overall width of the mug is about 6". Each piece is made of ceramic and painted in the traditional Talavera style using lead free paints. Since each piece is individually hand painted by Talavera artists, no two pieces will be identical and the pictures are representations of the general painting patterns and colors used. Talavera is an art form that has its roots starting in the 16th Century. Original styles have been influenced with Spanish, Arabic, Italian and Chinese origins.
