(More customer reviews)I purchased this and a coffee table. The assembly was very simple and easy. I will caution that the rail, the legs attach to, was barely in place. If you want to make a secure attachment, very carefully remove the rail, sandpaper the side and were it goes onto the table and add a little wood glue. Be sure to wipe off any acccess with a damp cloth. Permenant fix, if you comfortable at that.

Hinges function smoothly, short wooden legs screw in manually. The inside storage is spacious, it's overall pretty sturdy and nicely upholstered. The inside bottom board is a tad thin, but unless you are trying to hide inside it's just right. All-around well-done. This item is definitely sleek black, no hints of red & brown which it may seem in the picture. A good buy at $366 with free shipping. Thanks guys.

(More customer reviews)It started with those high priced catalogs full of teak and it made it's way as usual to Amazon.com to see what they had...I was pleased to find a great english shorea wood bench and bought it, I love it and it's made so well that I ordered the cocktail table to match, they are great and comfortable and I even found a doormat to add to it...I sealed them all with tung oil on a rag and made a beautiful place to hang out...for what I would have spent on teak I could have built an addition but with this fantastic line of furniture I bought everything and had enough left to order a nice birdbath too!! and flowers and tikitorches...you get the idea. As always you can't go wrong with Amazon.com they deal with great companies and if there's ever a problem it's fixed ASAP. You'll love this line of furniture!!!

The slate comes packed on the table, held on with poor quality masking tape which does not peel off in one piece and leaves sticky residue on the top wood surface. I am still trying to get all the sticky tape off after owning it for 1 month. Some of the slate came chipped (corners missing)and one table had slate that looked completely different from the others. (I ordered coffee, end, and sofa tables.) Coaster Furniture Company would not replace the slate. I should not have to pay this much money and then have to cut my own slate. FYI: The slate pieces are not squares, but a diamond-shaped piece in the center with pieces cut around it to fit (sort of).
The pictures do not show that there are intentional gouges on the wood of the table...and it does not look old or distressed, just messed up. It does not come assembled, even though I got it at a furniture store (didn't expect it to) and the screws are a bit soft, so some stripped as I was putting it together. I am a do-it-yourselfer who has put together MANY projects, so I know quality hardware. On the good side, the pieces are solid and heavy and the metal work looks nice. The pieces would look awesome if it weren't for the slate issues, gouged wood, and sticky spots from the tape.

Rather than return it or wait for new parts I took screws to a machine shop. They were able to cut them and rethread them for me. Hopefully all your tables won't have the same problem.

I have a 5 year old girl and a 1 year old boy and every time we go to one of those stores with a train set like this one out for the kids to try I always have a hard time dragging my kids away. Well, now my kids can play with a train set as long as they want!
This set comes with the perfect amount of trains, cars, and track for several kids to play at once and keep one kid entertained for hours.
My kids are also fond of Thomas the Train whose vehicles are fully compatible.
The table is very sturdy while the 120 piece train set is also well made and you cannot beat the price which I would have been willing to spend just for the table alone.
I would highly recommend this set to anyone whose kids like trains or have had to be pried away from an in store display.
